Cyprus, officially known as the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean. It gained independence from British rule in 1960.
Introduction
The currency of Cyprus during the specified period was the Cypriot pound (CYP), which was subdivided into 100 cents or mils. The Cypriot pound replaced the Cyprus pound sterling in 1955.

From 1963 to 1982, Cyprus issued a series of coins in denominations of mils and pounds. The coins included various denominations such as 1 mil, 5 mils, 10 mils, 25 mils, 50 mils, 250 mils, and 500 mils. These coins featured different designs and were minted using different metals depending on the denomination.
Cyprus adopted the euro (EUR) as its official currency in 2008.
